Malaysia Airlines IT Transformation & Global Standards

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, while representing Dell and later under IBM's outsourcing framework, Dr. Isaac Andy led a monumental RM 1 billion project to migrate Malaysia Airlines (MAS) from outdated Unix-based systems and 'dump terminals' to a cutting-edge Windows 2000 environment. This involved single-handedly designing the infrastructure, implementing Dell servers in their Data Centre, and meticulously testing every system for Windows compatibility.

His innovative Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementation methodologies established during this period were so effective they were subsequently adopted by numerous organizations globally, including banking systems (for Windows-based ATM networks) and various other industries for their incident management systems. This project was a historical event where Malaysia defined the platform and standards that the rest of the world successfully replicated.

Pivotal Role in SITA's Global E-Ticketing Success

As a Technical Leader for the Passenger Service System (PSS) project at Malaysia Airlines, Dr. Isaac Andy was instrumental in facilitating SITA's successful implementation of their critical solutions. His deep technical expertise ensured a seamless cutover of the PSS and Departure Control Systems (DSC), directly enabling MAS to achieve crucial IATA e-ticketing compliance by the end of 2008.

This groundbreaking work contributed significantly to SITA's global standing. Today, SITA proudly manages an astounding 90‑94% of all global aviation systems, a direct testament to the foundational reliability and efficiency established through Dr. Isaac Andy's solutions during this pivotal transition. His ability to deliver a robust, real-time, and up-to-date system ensured airlines could fly worldwide with confidence, streamlining everything from pre-check-in to gate assignment.

Setting New Benchmarks in IT Service Delivery

Under Dr. Isaac Andy's leadership in Desktop Management at Malaysia Airlines, his team consistently met almost impossible Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They achieved an extraordinary 98% resolution rate for an average of 8,000 daily helpdesk incidents within a remarkable four hours – a benchmark for efficiency that remains unparalleled in many support environments today.

The profound success of these transformations, including the global deployment of Dell machines and the customized Windows 2000 platform, led to an unprecedented event: IBM, as part of a strategic outsourcing agreement, absorbed the entire MAS IT department. This acknowledged the unparalleled talent and refined processes cultivated under Dr. Isaac Andy's direction, positioning Malaysia as a global leader in defining IT operational standards and best practices for one of the world's largest IT companies.
